Ooh, a friend in NYC! It's been about 5 years since I've been to the City. I miss it, and if I come out I'll definitely drop you a line first!

Sounds like a fascinating path you've taken through life. Would love to talk more - catch me on Twitter sometime!

Drew
Actually I've been living the Heroic Life for the past 14 years. At the age of 40 I changed careers, took risks, and I constantly say to myself and to other, that I truly love my life. I am so tuned into the fact that for me it's the journey that is the reward, not the goal. The past 14 years have been remarkable for me, living with my own "ideals" and not the rules society (with the exception of the law) imposes on us. I've read many of the new age/ religious ways of thinking and I was never able to put my finger on my way of life. Until I read your blog. To me life is the moment of "now". Not retribution for sins... etc. I try to notice things in life like the ability to speak, or how beautiful the sky is. That's what brought me so close to the nature of the world I live in.
That is what allows me to see the potential I have as an individual and how much I can accomplish for myself and for the world. I am a piece of the puzzle and I know I fit in, although sometimes the edges can get a bit jagged, but I kind of know my place here and it is such a freeing feeling.
The other day I took a look at all the VHS vcr tapes of movies I have (my collection was always important to me, especially as an actor/screenwriter) and decided to give them to the Ronald McDonald House for children. It's funny how something so important at one time, becomes lighter when lifted. I'm also exploring the cleaning out of closets/life.
Anyway, thanks for your words. I'm still writing the screenplay it's half finished, but much research now since I have a roman catholic priest who is a closet pagan, which is what lead me to you. Just a bit controversial but if I'm bring it into public view I want to do it correctly and let people learn from it.
Was out in LA pitching a romantic comedy, but I'll head out to LA in June to pitch this one, I know there will be interest.
Cheers!
If you're ever in NYC, please drop me a line.

Hi Jeff! And welcome to Rogue Priest :) Thanks for your kind words - "I'd love to go and hear this guy speak." I take that as high praise, thank you! More to the point I'm glad to hear that the idea of the heroic life means something to you. It seems like the more I talk about it the more people sit up and say, YES, that's the lifestyle I want to lead. So I'm glad you're talking about it too. The more you do, the more you'll find yourself inspiring people in turn. What steps are you taking (or have already taken) toward living heroically?

Great story by the way, has anyone picked up the screenplay yet?

Drew
Sorry you're suffering with this, I've had it also, with the throat, staying calm and swallowing honey heals the process of time passage which is the only thing I've found to treat it.
On another note: I've been wanting to write you for some time, many of the statements on your blog are what has been in my mind for many years, but I've never been able to pinpoint what is into words. So every time I read your blog it makes total sense to me, and I have been spreading you Heroic Path idealism (which I strongly believe) with almost everyone I come in contact with.
How I stumbled on to your blog: Hours of research on the web, I'm a screenwriter, writing a screenplay about a doctor who has suppressed a mystical heal power his whole life. When his son dies and he is forced to use it, he becomes public and is recognized for the healer he is. His ex-wife announces she has cancer but does not want to be healed, she is tired of life and wants her body to take whatever natural course it goes. He wants to heal her, So a Rouge Catholic Priest who is a closet Pagan and has been his wife's confident, takes him hostage at gunpoint so she can quietly die.
Even though it's very controversial, there's no good guy/bad guy in this, I want the audience to make their own mind up, so I'm portraying everyone with as much sensitivity as possible and just showing different viewpoints.
So I hope I have not turned you away with what I'm doing, but it has brought me to you, and the more I research this, the more I find out about myself. I even said to someone I'd love to go and hear this guy speak.
Anyway, I finally decided to write you, I feel better, and I hope your throat gets better as well.
Sincerely,
Jeff Goldstein
