I’m Changing Rogue Priest

There are some changes brewin’ around this blog.

For two years I’ve blogged, without fail, a minimum of twice per week (typically Monday/Thursday), with other posts scattered here and there. Sometimes I’ve posted daily.

From here on it will be once per week.

Every Wednesday there will be a brand new soul-searching post in this space. Why the cutback? I’m focusing on a variety of new writing projects, and I don’t want the quality to suffer her. To the contrary, I believe that giving my full attention to a single weekly essay will make Rogue Priest even stronger.

This doesn’t mean there will never be extra posts here—if something strikes me I might still blog throughout the week. But in general, expect posts on Wednesdays.

So what are you going to do with all this extra reading time? Well, a number of you asked that I write about Celtic polytheism, and that’s one of my new projects:

The Celtic Polytheism Blog

That blog is only a week old and already I’ve written about folklore, myth, beautiful artwork, terrible research, and proper grammar. The gods would be so proud! Please check it out and share it widely. The feedback I receive on that blog will help shape the books I’m writing about Celtic religion.

(Yes, there will be books! Multiple of them!)

The other projects I’m working on include finishing Lúnasa Days, writing new fiction, creating a Vodou podcast, and launching the Salon of Magic.

Still sad? Need something to read? This Cracked article will either make you cry or change your life. I highly recommend it.

I read that article on cracked. It was sexist and sociopathic. It had one good point. To the world, You are what you do. But it ignored the fact that who you are mentally influences what you do.

There was a double blast of Rogue Priest posts today — this one and the Salon Q&A both went live t the same moment this morning.

That was an accident. They were supposed to be staggered Sunday/Monday. To those of you subscribed by email, sorry for the double hit!

Oooh, books! I’m rooting for you, Drew! Any tips for an aspiring writer (other than butt in seat, hands on keyboard)?

    • Drew Jacob

Tips, yes! (Although I am by no means a Successful Writer yet, meaning I don’t make a FT salary from writing what I want to write.)

      1. Social media. YES.
      2. Promoting other writers’ work. YES.
      3. Self publishing, blogging, kickstarter… sure, but it’s a long hard road.
      4. You are your own marketing director. Act accordingly.

Incidentally, another of the Tumblr’s I’m launching is a blog about the struggle to become a famous writer.

That was a pretty good Cracked article. I just hope you don’t end up burning yourself out as it appears to be a lot of projects that might get overwhelming. I know I have a lot but I can easily put them on the back burner without deadlines to worry about. How many blogs are you running now? I’m slowly going offline, planning on wrapping up the website keeping the e-mail, FB page/twitter updates, Pinterest (hosting research – and a bit of fun) and writing for No Unsacred Place. I’m likely not going to be following other blogs so much anymore. As I am trying to focus on crafting for profit – this coming month I’ll be very quiet on the net. So the cracked article was rather appropriate. :)
