This is a short post to give you a status update on Magic to the People, my project to make magical ceremonies available to everyone—at no fixed cost.
In my most recent post I said our funding drive would start this weekend. However, during final editing of the video it became apparent to me that the quality really wasn’t what I wanted it to be. I’m re-shooting video today and hope to launch the campaign this week.
I’m by no means an expert on crowdfunding, but every resource agrees that the intro video is the most important part. It’s what most people will see and it’s what determines whether they’ll take our project seriously. Even a great idea won’t get funded if it has a bad video.
As I remake the Magic to the People video, I’m focusing on simplicity. The previous video tried to do too much with too few resources. I think stating the idea simply and passionately is the way to go.
This project has been daunting. I have no history in video, and have never done an Indiegogo campaign before. Thankfully I’ve been able to conjure up very helpful people and lots of expertise—huge thanks to all of you who have offered your advice and time.
And thanks to everyone for believing in Magic to the People. Soon, gods willing, the door will open and the shrine will be active. And each one of you will have helped make it possible.
I’ll let you know as soon as we’re live!
Drew Jacob, Rogue Priest
